W11E1 - Imbuing space with a personal meaning
There are many places in my memory that I've elevated as part of me. I've lived and felt great emotions there, and I've created meaningful experiences there. You can do this in your life as a way to expand your Self like the high tide of the sea is expanding throughout the land. If I close my eyes, a few places are here in front of me: Roberto's tree, my "colle", a small beach soccer field near the sea, etc etc. There is also a link with remembering learned topics by associating them with real places: I have many many such examples of university courses materials that are linked to places where I lived: if I think about the theory, that place is in the background, and if I think about that place that theory is within my grasp. There was a famous monk in the 1500, named Matteo Ricci, who described in his book "The palace of memory" ways of using his memory as a real spatial structure and its connection to the human ability to visualize the movement in space.
